Mug Shots & Mash Bills: On July 10, 1924, a woman called F. Stone was arrested for operating a ‘pocket still’ out of her studio apartment. It produced one pint of booze an hour. In the 1920s, during prohibition, women could enter into social spaces that had not existed before. From running kitchen stills to smuggling booze, women were a big part of the alcohol black market.
